Passkeys and biometrics
Set up Robomap passkeys for passwordless sign-in with Touch ID, Face ID device unlock, or Windows Hello.
What it does
Robomap supports passkeys (WebAuthn). You unlock with the biometrics or PIN on your device (Touch ID, Windows Hello, or the device unlock gesture). Robomap never receives your biometric data — only a public key credential stored for your account.
Requirements
- HTTPS (production app URLs qualify)
- A passkey-compatible browser and authenticator
- An existing Robomap account (email + password) so you can enroll the first passkey
Set up a passkey
- Sign in with email and password.
- Open Account → Security (
/account/security). - Under Passkeys and device biometrics, choose Set up this device.
- Complete the browser/OS prompt (biometric or device PIN).
- Confirm the device appears in the list as ready for biometric sign-in.
Sign in with a passkey
- Open app.robomap.ai/auth/login.
- Enter your email (required so Robomap can offer the right credential).
- Choose Sign in with passkey and complete the device prompt.
Remove a device credential
On Account → Security, remove a listed passkey when you retire a device or lose access. You can enroll again later from a trusted device.
Troubleshooting
- Passkey unavailable — use a supported browser over HTTPS. Local
http://environments without a secure context cannot create credentials. - Setup failed — cancel other OS prompts, ensure biometrics are enrolled on the device, and retry. If the page shows an error after a deploy, ask an admin to confirm WebAuthn migrations are applied.
- Sign-in failed — confirm you entered the same email used at enrollment; fall back to password, then re-enroll if the authenticator was reset.
