WordPress plugin integration

Connect a WordPress site to Robomap, install the plugin, and embed contact and directory shortcodes.

What it does

Robomap can connect a business WordPress site to:

  • Verify the site with a WordPress Application Password (optional, stored encrypted)
  • Issue or rotate a Robomap API key for the Robomap WordPress plugin
  • Receive contact / technician request leads from the plugin
  • Expose a business directory snippet for the listing widget

Connect in Robomap

  1. Sign in and go to Account → Integrations → WordPress.
  2. Enter your WordPress site URL.
  3. Optionally add a WordPress Application Password (username + application password from WordPress Admin → Users → Profile → Application Passwords).
  4. Generate a Robomap API key on connect (shown once) and paste it into the plugin under Settings → Robomap.
  5. Click Connect, then optionally Test connection.

Install the plugin

  1. Download robomap.zip from the robomap-wordpress releases.
  2. In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin → upload → Activate.
  3. Go to Settings → Robomap.
  4. Paste the API base URL shown on the Robomap WordPress integration page and your API key.
  5. Click Test connection.

Troubleshooting

  • Plugin test fails — confirm the API base URL and key match Robomap; rotate the key if it was lost (plaintext is shown only once).
  • Application Password rejected — use an application password, not the main WP login password; ensure the REST API is reachable at /wp-json/.
  • No leads — place the contact shortcode on a published page and submit a test form.
